At the last 40SC meeting the discussion came up about sheath cleaning on geldings and having the service available when the clinic for teeth comes in the spring. My experience this weekend is an expensive reminder of why that is so important. Murphy will be fine and he is clean now and on antibiotics, temperature is almost down to normal, back on feed and water. He was very sick with a bacterial infection and then had a seizure while in the vets office. An hour and a half later we had him back on his feet but it was a damn scarey moment. He is my granddaughters horse and I am so glad that she and her sister were not there yesterday but it will be a reminder to me to not neglect sheath cleaning ( it was cleaned in July before fair but we did not sedate him so it was not a thorough job).
