At the outset, on behalf of the BPC Board and Management, let me extend a very warm welcome to Chief Guest and other distinguished guests to this small function that we have organized to observe the BPC day. Thank you for sparing your precious time to invest in BPC, this morning. BPC has completed 12 years of its operations as corporate entity established since July 2002. BPC day usually starts with a early morning prayer and lhabsang thruesang at our Chhosom in BPC headquarter. The BPC blood donation programme is also part of the annual event on this day. BPC observes this day annually to remember and reflect on how we have been doing since the company was formed. In general, I would like to report that BPC has been doing very well since its formation especially taking good care of our vast physical grid assets spread all over the country, building transmission and distribution lines, substations and providing service connections to various categories of customers. Today we are serving more than 150, 000 customers from 33,993 customers in 2002. 97% Electrification ratio has been achieved with commitment, dedication and support from all stakeholders including the donors , the Shareholder, and the hard work and efforts put in by BPC staff & officials. We have managed to come up thus far. Our asset worth has grown to 27.852 billion from mere 3.325 billion in 2002, indicating an average growth of 20% per annum over the years. BPC human resources growth has also been modest, it has almost doubled over the years to 2400 in 2014. While Customer, Asset and Employee care will continue to be our top priority for the future, sustaining a reliable and efficient grid supply is going to be a challenge and we look forward to take the advantage of the emerging “Smartgrid technologies” to overcome this problem.
