At the theater tonight...ALL THE WAY, starring Bryan Cranston as the irascible, irreverent Lyndon Baines Johnson--as he navigated through the racial politics of 1963-64, leading to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Fantastic cast and a believable evocation of that era in American politics--including the figures of MLK Jr, Stokely Carmichael, Jay Edgar Hoover, Strom Thurmond, and many more. (With my family--David Yonah, and Rollie Abkowitz) And a real New York moment. Who was just in front of us in line to enter the theater?? None other than Woody Allen shyly half hiding under his hat and orange sweater, with Soon Yi Previn.
