At this point I should interject that because both my parents loved music so much and were kids growing up in the thirties and forties I was emmersed in all their favorites from those eras while I was a kid growing up. At first I hated it, but as time went by I found I enjoyed some of the tunes they would play on the stereo. I will always have fond memories of my Dad asking me to come into the living room and sit on the couch with him so he could play some of his favorite bands records while he would tell me stories or facts about the artist and why he liked them. At times he would get so excited about what the group was about to play he would reach over and tap me on the arm and say... Oh oh now listen to this part! I would be like... Dad, Ive heard it a thousand times already! But I would just sit there and smile. 😊. If I were to make a list of my favorite big band jazz performers and songwriters - Glenn Miller would definitely be in the top five of ten. youtu.be/G8zDQAOLVtM
