At this time I am the officer who shot Michael,He made an attempt to take my firearm as he pushed me into the cruiser.I was left off balance at a time that I was trying to secure my firearm.Whenthis incident occured there were 2 men involved and I rp.(Michael)was not aware of the other black males position.With one man trying to take my weapon and another whose position unknown, and weather armed or unarmed.I used the least amount of force necessary to secure my safety,effect an arrest on the original perp.Then to assertain the whereabouts of the 2nd subject and any threat he might offer.Based on a 2 on 1 situation that was esculated by a physical confrontation where the possession of my weapon was at issue. I did ,in defense of my life, open fire as I tried to take control of the scene by neutralizing the first male and then locating the 2nd male to assertain his iintentions.. Once the scene was secured and additional officers arrived until facts dictate otherwise.secured my weapon and tured it over to officers of the Internal affairs Division.I usedthe least amount of force to protect myself and secure an arrest that protects the society in general.My name is J.E.Trent and I support this office
