At this time every year, I wait for what I call my Moment of Scrooge; that point where my icy exterior melts away and I am swept up in the joie de Noel. It is a long time coming this year, so I designed this spread based on Dickens A Christmas Carol to wrestle with my yuletide gremlins. Top row = Jacob Marley or the catalyst for transformation. Second row, left to right = the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come, or things to reflect upon to bring this transformation about. Bottom = Scrooge Transformed or where you will be once youve learned the lessons of the first four cards. Finally, once you have mulled the cards (or the wine, whichever comes first), draw a last card = The Christmas Pudding, ... a speckled cannonball, so hard and firm ... but nobody suggested or thought it was at all a small pudding for a large family. It would have been flat heresy to do so. This is your reward for doing the work and coming around, the dessert at the end of the feast. I did this for Christmas, but I believe it could be applied to any situation of deeply ingrained crankiness.
