At work. If you are familiar with the route from my house to my office this will make more sense, otherwise, you may have to scratch your head a bit… Conditions at 5:30AM to 6:00AM Lake Wheeler: covered with dry snow, easy driving. Tryon Road from Lake Wheeler to Gorman, covered with snow, some slush, easy driving. Gorman Street at I-40: A little bit of bare pavement, easy driving. I-40 from Gorman Street to US-1: 60% bare pavement (center lane has snow/slush), no issues other than having to watch traffic. I-40 ramp to US-1 North: 50% clear. No issue except the guy in the Mazda 626 who was scared and riding his brakes down the ramp, combined with the guy in the Ford mini-van behind me who was in a hurry and was on my rear down the ramp… No traction/driving issue. US-1 from I-40 to Western Blvd: Clear pavement, easy driving. Quite a bit of traffic moving smoothly. US-1 from Western Blvd to Wade Ave: 30% bare pavement, Snow Plow Congo Line working southbound. Easy driving, no issues. US-1 ramp to Wade Ave: 40% bare, snow is pretty dry with good traction. Wade Ave from US-1 to Blue Ridge: 40% bare pavement, easy driving. Wade ramp onto Blue Ridge: 30% bare, easy driving. Blue Ridge from Wade to District Drive (and from what I could see on up to Lake Boone), covered in dry snow, easy driving. District Drive, covered in dry snow, easy driving. Stay home if you dont have to be out, but if you do and can go before the crazies get out, its not bad... :)
