Atheist: Blasphemy & apostasy laws are barbaric! Islam is an oppressive ideology that seeks to subjugate the masses. Me: But, blasphemy & apostasy laws are not Islamic at all! Youre an apologetic. Real Islam is followed by ISIS, Al-Qaeda and the likes. They interpret the Quran literally! Me: Well, speaking of literalism, how much more literally could I interpret There is no compulsion in matters of faith (2:256)? Additionally, pray tell, how could it be real Islam when it contradicts one of the core principles of the Quran? Atheist: Do you mean to say that the majority of Muslims have got it wrong, and only you & your peers have discovered the truth? Why should I listen to you? Me: Funny youd make that point. Let me put that question back to you: Do you mean to say that the majority of people who follow religion have got it wrong, and only you & your peers have discovered the truth? Why should I (emphasis added) listen to YOU? Atheist: Bloody Islamic apologetic! *Blocks me. Moral of the story: Never equate popular opinion with truth (6:116).
