Atlast made a test drive of Hero Moto Corps new shit which comes under the banner Xtreme-2014 with a caption Live off the edge(i still think Heros life is on edge of survival) Ok coming to the test drive... Let me first brush up the things newly added.. 1. New console with side stand indicator. 2. 110x90-18 MRF Zapper tyres. 3. Mobile charger. 4. Open chain. 5. Newly(?? :-( ) designed compactly packed machine. 6. Weight reduced by two kgs. Engine Specs remains the same 14.4bhp @ 8500rpm and 12.8N-m @ 7500rpm with the same 14/43 sprockets. Bike looks new and fresh design but it attracts nowhere in its areas. None of its looks are good. I viewed the bike and the showroom person suggested to make a test drive. I started the machine with a feather touch on the starter switch igniting the 14.4bhp two valve SOHC engine. When i sat on the bike my first disappointment is the fuel tank. I think Hero straightly ordered the fuel tank of old shine and made some sticker works on it. I decided to make test drive about 5kms comprising a city traffic and 1km road (actually it is a shortcut to showroom) and then a little stretch around. When i start to drive in the traffic i found the bike is torqued enough as the old one and Hero has improved its handling. I was driving around 55-60kmph and i found the engine was damn smooth and gears shifts perfectly. And on driving through the stone and path i said earlier the bikes suspension worked very well and even it was impressive. Then i thought of raising ma throttle so downshifted two gears and decided to rip slightly. The bike responded quickly and i managed to get 90kmph soon and the noticeable thing to be said is its power between 70-90. It reached within 2-3secs from 60. Im bit amazed on this point. Overall to say the design was a total shit in losing the integrated head lamp and tail lamp which is said to the trendy feature of Xtreme is really a bullshit. The complete design make over was bad though the seating posture was equipped well. Design - 2.5/5 Riding comfort - 4/5 Performance 0-60 - 4/5 0-100 - 4.5/5 Engine response - 4/5. To be exact a passion pro or cb shine equipped with Xtreme engine
