Atmospheric models are showing a persistent longwave pattern - TopicsExpress

Atmospheric models are showing a persistent longwave pattern across the eastern U.S. for the next 7+ days. Even the latest GFS and ECMWF models from this morning are showing a series of shortwave passages embedded in this longwave pattern for the next 240 hours, with the Arctic front jet oscillating back and forth, at times dipping as far south as the Tennessee Valley. In laymans terms, this means persistent colder-than-normal temperatures, and with little chance of moisture advection given the lack of any meaningful return southerly flow, well also be drier than normal for at least the next week. #tnwx (MAR)
