Atom AA vs NR and there are 7 min left in the 2nd period. Jude is chasing a forward and slides in to the boards and bangs his head a little and his wrenches his back. He bounces back up and stumbles forwards. At first I thought he was hurt but quickly came to realize the blade of his skate had snapped right in half. Mad dash to find a pair at the APM centre that fits him. He was hesitant to wear a diff pair of skates, saying they just didnt feel good. And he said his back was hurting a bit. All of a sudden, as we are frantically putting laces in very dull skates salvaged from the gear bin, (not sure if he would wear them) Pownal scores. Hurry up - hurry up - they need me mom! We get him ready, one black lace, one white lace in tight skates. He jumps back in the game with 10 min left in the third and doesnt miss a shift. I could tell the skates were hurting him but he tried his hardest and never gave up. Driving home after the game I told him how proud his father and I were of him for getting back in there and for not letting his team down. A team that was already short two forwards. Atta boy Juder, you wore that A on ur jersey well today bud.
