Attached are four images of GM30 taken in 2005/2006. The plan was to rebuild a 1800hp GM class into a 3000hp unit. Unlike the CL class (that were delivered as 3000hp units), the GMs are shorter. The Australian Railroad Group (ARG) purchased second hand parts, including bits of BNSF hammerhead SD45B, 7507 to make it happen. They started off going hammer and tong, then it dwindled down to, when things are quiet work on the GM project until it was eventually shelved and the plan scrapped. Being of lighter construction, torque of a 3000hp motor on the old frame raised issues, not to mention the cost. The work was carried out at ARGs shops at Forrestfield, Western Australia and GM30 was to become 3401.
