‘Attack’ on PDP candidate: Police registers case, arrests duo Sonawari, Nov 17, CNS: Police Monday arrested two former renegades for allegedly attacking the cavalcade of People’s Democratic Party candidate and lodged a formal case against them. The third accused according to police is still at large. Pertinently, People’s Democratic Party candidate for Sonawari constituency yasir Reshi’s cavalcade was allegedly attacked with stones and stick near Nawabadi Mohalla Asham, damaging three vehicles. Reshi was on way to Safapora to address an election rally. His security guards according to reports exercised maximum restraint and did not retaliate. Yasir Reshi alleged that the attack on his cavalcade was ‘maneuvered’ by his rival National Conference candidate. Police took cognizance of the case after Reshi filed a formal complaint before Election Officer Bandipora and SP Ganderbal. Reshi had alleged that three former government gunmen and supporters of NC candidate, namely Ayub Mir son of Muhammad Sidiq, Kamal Mir son of Ramzan Mir and Nika Bai son of Ghulam Muhammad Mir all residents of Nawabadi Mohalla were directly involved in the attack. A police official told CNS that after taking serious note of the alleged attack, they have arrested two persons while Ayub Mir alias Ayub Nabid is still large. He said that the culprit who is evading his arrest will be nabbed soon. “We have registered a case against the accused vide FIR number 25/2010 under section 147,148,341,407 of RPC,” he said. (CNS)
