Attended an event in London related to my dearest home town Hong Kong, which Professor Anthony Cheung Bing Leung, the Secretary for Transport and housing,HKSAR, came to give a speech about Enhancing Hong Kongs Connectivity and Global Role. From my point of view, Hong Kong is a lovely and special place, which has much more to give for China and as an Asian big city. However, Hong Kong is losting its competitveness due to its political situation, which the one country, two systemis changing..but not improving.. In the seminar, it was said not to discuss about political issues but about the Third runway, the maritime sector, the labour shortage of construction workers(to be frank, I think without democracy in HK for the future, these are not going to happen in HK. Business really do not have to trade through HK)...but Professor Cheung did said a few words about the recent strike about hk but he said in a tricky way as follows: Hong Kong would be the first city in China to have universal suffrage in 2017.Apart from this, he replied the audience that the Third Runway of our international airport may be delay because HK is so easy to have Judicial Review. (how can he give such an answer..the fair and strong Judicial system, as well as the nature environment are both a great asset of hk.Money and capital are not everything please! )Apart from these, he just gave a lot of data about how brilliant hk is..but I would like to say Londoners are kept thinking how to do better in order to keep their status in the world. Data is the past but not the future.. I just wonder why the hk governor are always lack the leadership and insight for hk! I believe the students can do much better ! Ps After the event, I met some HK government officials during the refreshment and reception(which I did not think I would have this chance). They are quite friendly to know that I am from HK and having working holiday here on my own. They asked if I know their office and I can ask for any help if needed because they are here to serve the Hong Kong residents. Actually I am quite surprise for their welcoming and I would like to tell them I would know the HKETO office on Saturday as there is an event to support and stand for HK! May you help me to send my regards and concern about the future of HK to the CE?
