Attended the Little Rock Neighborhood Meeting on the 12th Street - TopicsExpress

Attended the Little Rock Neighborhood Meeting on the 12th Street Core (NOT CORRIDOR) last night. THERE IS A STAKEHOLDERS MEETING TODAY AT 11:30A AT THE WILLIE HINTON CENTER. PLEASE GO! Here is my take from the meeting last night although I was not able to stay until the end. 1) MetroPlan has been contracted by the state to COORDINATE rebuilding neighborhoods. 2) 12th Street is the ONLY project that DOES NOT have a plan on their website. 3) The COORDINATOR stressed that 12th Street has labor and money available in that area. 4) The funds MUST come from PRIVATE NONTRADITIONAL FUNDING - MEANING WE MUST PROVIDE OUR OWN AND DONT LOOK FOR GOVERNMENT FUNDS TO HELP YOU!!!! 5) The 12th street CORE is a TEST project and if if FAILS, they will NOT ask us ANYMORE so OUR DOCTORS, LAWYERS, MILLIONAIRES need to step up to the plate for this project. 6) SOME OF OUR OWN did not help including the project administrator for the city. ATTITUDES MUST CHANGE! 7) ANY CONTRACTOR, LABORER or INTERESTED PARTY MUST ATTEND EVERY MEETING, not for debating but to express that you have INTEREST! We must care about our neighborhoods before anyone else does and what affects one, affects ALL. Just Watch! 8) I did not see Woods, Caradine, Doyne, and other potential MAJOR BLACK construction-related companies in the room. I may be incorrect but it is IMPERATIVE that they attend these meetings and make themselves known because it was stressed that they would use local labor and someone needs to hold them accountable to do this!!! 9) The 12th Street Core (test project) is from Lewis Street to Maple Street and I-630 to 14th Street! LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
