Attending AAR in Baltimore? Come early for the SALT meeting! YES, the Society of Anglican and Lutheran Theologians (SALT) is having a 2013 meeting. A shorter than usual but delicious and informative one, over dinner, Friday November 22. Read on! ******* Due to a confluence of circumstances, this year’s SALT gathering prior to AAR/SBL will follow a reduced format. Rather than our accustomed Thursday-Friday meeting, we will gather for dinner and discussion on Friday evening, November 22, at 6:30 p.m. at: Sabatinos Italian Restaurant 901 Fawn Street Baltimore 410-727-9414 Sabatino’s has a large and varied menu, with meat, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. They serve pasta of their own making and offer a good wine list, according to our sources. We will meet 6:30-8:30, although if you need to leave sooner or wish to stay longer, that is fine. Along with informal conviviality, we will also have a slightly more formal opportunity to: (1) check in about our theological and ecclesial lives; (2) celebrate the publication of _Christian-Muslim Relations in the Lutheran and Anglican Communions_, which grew out of the 2011 SALT meeting in San Francisco; (3) share ideas for next year’s meeting (and beyond!). In view of our abbreviated meeting this year, there are no membership dues for 2013. Sabatino’s is a less than a mile from the Baltimore Convention Center, pretty much straight east, in Little Italy. The #7 bus toward Canton will take you from the Convention Center to within two blocks (1/10 mi.) of the restaurant in 6 minutes. If you’re staying in the Fairfield Inn, the Admiral Fell Inn, the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront, the Homewood Suites, the Hilton Garden Inn Inner Harbor, or the Courtyard Downtown, your hotel is substantially closer to the restaurant than it is to the Convention Center. (In case youre wondering about SALT 2014: We will meet at our accustomed time of Thursday afternoon through Friday morning right before AAR/SBL. The specific dates are November 20-21, 2014; the place is San Diego. Program and logistical planning have already begun.)
