Attention: I need 20 men and women who want to give our young black men and women HUGS!!! On September 4th, 2014, I invite you stop a teen and tell them to have a great school year and you are proud of them for reaching the next level in their academic careers. If they are open to receiving it, give them a hug!!! My protest comes in the form of love not silence. Hugs heal and allow one to receive/release energy. School is starting soon and believe it or not some of these beautiful young people have never had anyone acknowledge them. Stop it with these preconceived notions about teens. I used to do it and now I have two teenagers. Remember when you were a teen and you just knew your parents didnt understand you? Its the same thing for them. It wasnt easy for me to receive but I get it now. Lets have back to school hug corners. Moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, elders...our youth have always been and will always be the deciding factor in how we treat the atrocities we have been fighting CIVILLY. The destruction of Ferguson happened because there hasnt been any healing. We had a civil rights movement and now it is about the healing? Who is responsible for the healing? Who puts a balm, a salve on the broken hearts of countless families that have lossed young, innocent, black men? Who protects the interest of young black men? Who guides/protects the growth, education, heart and healing of young black men? WE CAN fix this...it needs some love, some feel good, some confidence. Help me start the healing in a meaningful and vulnerable way. My problems arent different then yours. When we take off our masks and allow ourselves to acknowledge the hurt, we can move past it and soar. FB Event to be created shortly!!! Please spread the word. #blackyouth #hugsheal #ittakesacommunity #becauseallteenageboysaremysons #strongmenforstrongcommunities #stepoutofyourbox
