Attention, Illinois residents: Tell Governor Quinn that wolves, bears, and cougars deserve protection! A bill has just hit Governor Pat Quinns desk that would protect three magnificent Illinois species: the gray wolf, the American black bear, and the cougar. This bill has come so far—passing through gridlock in the state legislature—and we need to ensure that it clears this final hurdle. Contact the governor today asking him to sign S.B. 3049! This bill adds these imperiled species to the list of protected species under the Illinois Wildlife Act. With these protections, it would be illegal to kill these iconic and ecologically essential animals except in cases of imminent threats to people or farm animals. Please call the governor’s office at 217-782-0244 asking that he sign S.B. 3049 without delay, and follow up your call with an email. These fragile populations depend on a compassionate outcome to this process!
