Attention Wellington Spearos. Dive Wellington is putting on a Spearo Trip to the Aldermans 6th and 7th of Feb. (Waitangi Weekend) Costs = $440 + Transport and Food Trip includes the 2 days of spearfishing and 3 nights accommodation in the large dorm room, we will allow for 6 divers max on this trip. A $100 deposit will secure your spot and please confirm ASAP Book via me or Dive Wellington Likely this trip will fill up fast first in first served. Diving: This is a 2 day trip to the Alderman’s, February 6th and 7th. Drive up on Thursday 5th (day before Waitangi Day) and returning to Wellington on Sunday 8th We will be spearfishing out of Tairua. Free dive only, no scuba, with targets species being trophy Snapper, Kingis and Boarfish. Spearing gear should be suitable for these fish types so 110cm + guns with decent hard floats or larger inflatable floats. Dave/Chris at Dive Wellington will be able to sort you out with any upgrades you feel you might need for the trip but don’t need to go O.T.T. with gear. I imagine the water will call for a 5mm suit max in Feb up north. The diving will be with Rick’s Charters he is a very experienced skipper who has speared the coast for many years. Rick will make all the calls on where we dive on each day, all we need to do is tell him what species we want to target. Accommodation: We have the bunk room booked at Tairua camping grounds. This large room holds up to 8 people. You could also change it up and book your own room if you wanted more privacy. Separate rooms can be booked from $50 per night – but this cost will not be included in your $440 package sorry. We will get complementary shower tokens from the manager since we are booked under Dave/Dive Wellington shop but it’s still a back packer type accommodation so you will need sleeping bags and typical overnight kit. Here is there website tairuaholidaypark/ Food and Transport: These trips involve shared costs for transport and food, most spearo trips sort out a van hire (a 12 seater will usually be more than enough to get a group of spearos and their kit up and back.) With Van hire maybe $160 per day and Fuel the costs Approx $200? We will likely be paying $120 each for transport. I can find out more re the van hire if that is the option we all decide on or the other option is to car pool our own vehicles - we can sort this out in early Jan.. It would make most sense to depart Wellington in the morning so as to allow plenty of rest and safer driving to Tairua etc and we can all head back on the 9th flexible departure time back home. Food again shared costs catering. The room/s each has their own kitchenette and there is a small super market near by, there is also a fish and chip shop that will cook your catch for you for a small cost.
