Attention all you writers who long for a beautiful place to have a writing retreat! Im considering offering a writing workshop at the beautiful and incredibly peaceful Whites Retreat in Mill Valley, California in early December, probably December 4-8. (Mill Valley is just across the Golden Gate bridge from San Francisco, and there is parking at the retreat house.) The way I think it would work is that you will come on Thursday evening before dinner and leave on Monday morning after breakfast. On the night of your arrival, I will offer an hour- long, in-depth lecture on writing, including ideas about what you might write while youre there. Ill give you a signed copy of my book on writing called ESCAPING INTO THE OPEN, which includes lots of exercises you might want to try. Well have dinner and then youll be set free to create in your own way and at your own pace. At the end of the week, on Sunday evening, I will come to speak to you again, but this time in an informal way to answer questions, talk about your joys and difficulties and discoveries, and bid a fond farewell. Both men and women are invited to participate. The cost would be somewhere around $500 (all meals included) and I would need 35-40 people to sign up in order to run the program. Any profits after I pay the retreat house will go toward WRITING MATTERS, whose profits go toward supplying books to school libraries in need. If you are interested, please let me know here on FB.
