Attention cat breeders ANY ideas???: Brought home Zoya from the vets a little while ago, but we are baffled as to why she now has weakness in her hind legs?? She gave birth to 1 kitten Sunday morning at 7:15. Nothing remarkable with delivery, seemed normal. That was the only kitten she gave birth to. Only thing was her due date was on Tuesday July 29 (day 65), but I was expecting kittens the following Thursday or Friday, but she had the kitten on Sunday which would be day 70. That was the only kitten she had. Kitten wouldnt nurse and was breathing odd (not mouth breathing), but fast breathing. Tried to supplement kitten to feed, wouldnt drink. Kitten looked normal in every way, checked for cleft pallet everything looked normal. Later kitten died. Mom cat Zoya did fine, but Monday morning she was running a fever (think now it was 104.7??) rushed her to vets. They gave her a shot of antibiotics and she came home and I took her temperature every few hours and by 4:00 her temp was almost back to normal and she was doing much better. Tuesday morning fever again brought her to vets and she was spayed, didnt find anything abnormal other than a VERY thick uterus. She came home was doing Ok when I came home from work Wednesday she looked really off and noticed she was staggering in hind legs. Rushed her back to the vets and they kept her a couple of nights, gave her fluids and more antibiotics and also gave her a steroid. We cannot come up with a reason why she is weak in hind legs other than maybe kitten was on a nerve?? She is home now and can walk OK (still a stagger) on carpeting, but on hardwood floors her feet slide a bit, but vet said big improvement from yesterday so maybe slowly getting better? It is Friday and need to keep an eye on her and watch for fever and any improvement on staggering and if not better by Monday may need to go back for more testing, but not sure at this point what to test for. ANYONE have any ideas?
