Attention to everyone who cares: At the end of this day (or some time around there) I will be deleting my Facebook account. Its not because of any drama I want to avoid or mean messages sent to me; its because Im tired of Facebooks crap and its ability to act like a monopoly. There may be other sites out their like Facebook (Myspace, Tumblr, Google+, etc.) but none of them stack up to the power of this one. Twitter has done a pretty good job of giving Facebook a run for its money, but its not enough. This is a social media site, that means that people want to be social on it, so what do we do when everyone is on Facebook? Thats right, we follow them. This happens on a scale far too massive for me to begin to imagine. Now that Facebook is on top, it will likely stay on top forever, giving them the assurance that they can do whatever the hell they want and get away with it. Just recently we were all forced to download a new messenger app on to our phones in addition to our Facebook app. Now, I dont really know anything about the app. For all I know, it could be the most beautiful and innovative chat app ever conceived, but the app isnt my problem. It frightens me how easily they made me download another application. I tried to respectfully decline it, but then Facebook punched me in the nose, grabbed me by the teeth, then broke my jaw to make it easier for them to shove this big ass app down my throat. This particular app may have nothing wrong with it, but what about the future? Think of the power they have and what they can do with it. How many of you read the terms and conditions of agreement? Anything could be in those contract-like documents, and even if we did read them, I doubt we would be able to decipher what they really meant. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that Facebook is basically a giant pool of human information. This pool can be, and is accessed by advertising companies and government agencies constantly. I can feel myself being watched, cataloged, and solicited and it makes me sick thinking about it. They have already made us all dance like god damned puppets and I will have no continued part of it. Unless I dont like you, which is completely possible seeing as how my friends list is full of people I barely know and probably dislike. Damn, I hate this site. :^)
