Attitudes in society do need to change on child welfare involved - TopicsExpress

Attitudes in society do need to change on child welfare involved parents and their families. That is the key. The child welfare problem is a poor problem and going back in history, poor problems only change when all of a sudden the middle class decided to make it their problem and that rarely happens. They are the ones who vote and they have resources and are connected. Until they care, the government wont care. The poor are too busy trying to survive to help their fellow poor neighbor and the middle class are too busy trying to move up the ladder rungs in an effort to chase their wealth dreams. Here are excepts from the note I am commenting on: Very few people actually fully comprehend that the agencies do more harm than good much of the time, or that their policies forbid them from providing basic help or even workable resources, and that their involvement in families is essentially punitive, rather than restorative. Therefore, they are more likely to contact a hotline, police officials and local agencies for anything they see that doesnt agree with their ideals of how children ought to be cared for or kept, especially in cases where a parent is unable to provide basic needs to themselves or their children. They save those poor children from the monsters that abuse and the lazy parents that neglect! So, if this one issue the taxpaying citizens can agree on, “right” or “liberal”, they want their tax dollars spent on these programs saving all those poor neglected and abused kids out there! NO matter how much it costs. And to this end, convincing the masses that our agencies are motivated by corrupt agendas and operate a legal kidnapping scheme to rob families of their children and tax payers of federal money is very hard to do! I am sure we have all had an experience where we tried to speak strongly to someone about this issue, citing the truths of our understanding with the situation, and watched their eyes glaze over and their attention is lost and they just look at us like were crazy! We were wrong and everything the government did wasright and ultimately, there is very little we can say or do to convince them otherwise. Unfortunately this will be true for the majority, as it seems only the minds are changed when they become personally affected by the lies, corruption and heartache of losing a family to the system.
