Just had one of those mildly disconcerting experiences with those charity collectors that set up little tables in shopping strips. Id just parked to go to the ATM quickly and I put $50 on their table as I raced back to my car (they were smartly set up right outside the ATM). But then they chased me saying they couldnt accept my cash. They were actually signing up sponsors and then they started waving pictures of sick kids in my face and telling me sad stories while repeatedly calling me Sweetie. They were 2 very nice uni students. 20 years old tops. Because I didnt know what else to do, I handed over my credit card and signed up to something for 2 years out of guilt. I came away not knowing quite how I felt. Annoyed? Guilty that I felt annoyed? Pleased? Irritated? I had felt so good about giving the $50 and now I feel a bit.....I dont even know what.
