Attorney and paralegal friends: Please help us understand the concept of life without parole in Arkansas. We were told that Arkansas is not like Texas. When I was on a capital murder jury in the early 80s in Texas, the jury was told that life without parole meant that the murderer had to serve 20 years before becoming eligible for parole hearings every few years, which were then rarely successful. When Samantha was murdered, we were told that life without parole in Arkansas means the murderer does not ever become eligible for parole board hearings, therefore can never be released, therefore, dies in prison. Now, we read this - in the same court where the same judge will preside over the trial of Samanthas accused murderer and kidnapper, Jonathan Antonio Woods, son of Sue Ann Hall Parker, of Warren - ...The sentence for first degree murder is from 10-60 years, or “life without parole.” He would have to serve 70% of that time , before being eligible for parole... monticellolive/details-of-the-previous-manslaughter-attempted-murder-inventions/
