Atty. Jose Teddie C. Del Rosario, one of the attorneys-in-fact of the heirs of Crisanta Opo vda. Malabanan, said it was Malabanan who owned the 95,504 square meter property in Barangay (village) Caloocan in Talisay, Batangas. However, he said they have discovered that the property was “unlawfully transferred, registered and subdivided on May 25, 2007 by and under the names of Alan La Madrid Purisima [and] Ma. Ramona Lydia Purisima.” “It should be emphasized that the registered owners, Crisanta Opo vda. Malabanan et al., their surviving heirs and their [assigned] Attorney-In-Fact never sold or transferred the said property to Alan La Madrid Purisima…or to any other person or entity for that matter,” Del Rosario said in the complaint affidavit filed Tuesday. He said Purisima’s act of illegally transferring the property under his name “is a clear case of estafa, falsification of public document, land-grabbing, among others.” The complainant added that the property was not in the statement of assets, liabilities and networth (SALN) of the PNP chief and his wife, also a government employee. He said failure to include it in the SALN “is an evidence that they have illegally, anomalously, irregularly and even criminally acquired and accumulated the property.” Aside from Estafa and Falsification of Public Documents, Del Rosario urged the Ombudsman to investigate Purisima and his wife for possible violation of Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. Purisima is currently under six months preventive suspension without pay for the questionable courier contract with Werfast.
