Auckland: Air frosts were widespread this morning. The Airports air temp bottomed out at 0.9C at 0730am. This is a May record in observations since 1966 - and highly unusual - since this might be expected only once a year, typically in late June/early July. Other stations recorded air frosts (Pukekohe -1C, Whenuapai and Ardmore -2.3C), and Waitakere volunteers reckoned they had 3 degrees of air frost! Ground frosts were widespread, remarkably even on Waiheke Island. The good news? Temperatures now warm up, see metservice/towns-cities/auckland/auckland-central for details ^GG
