A friend in need is a friend in deed. After all islam teaches us some rules regarding Friendship. And who can be a better source than the prophet alayhisalam and all the imams themselves? The bad Friendship Good Friendship Islam lays great emphasis on the Friendship & encourage having as many Friends as possible. In the holy quran, Allah Subanahuwatala clearly states that he too choose Friends for himself. “Beware, verily on the friends of Allah, there is no fear, nor shall they grieve.” (Surah Yunus, Verse 62) ALLah Subanahuwtala Also declare his friendship to Sayedina Ibrahim Alayhisalam calling him KhalilUllah. While islam encourages to have friends ,it goes to a step further in guiding us that the following category of people should avoided: 1. Al-ahmaq (the fool) A person is generaly judged by the company he keeps. By keeping a foolish friend one confirms his own foolishness. A foolish person lacks the ability to reason and seek wisdom. He can therefore cause alot of harm to his companions even though his intentions are good. 2. Al-bakheel (the miser) A miser does not have faith in Allah & the day of judgement when good deeds will be rewarded. He always believes that whatever is his possession has been acquired solely by his personal efforts & that giving away anything to anyone will mean a total loss to himself. Friendship with such a selfish person can be dangerous. At the time of dire & difficulty, he can probably make you suffer humiliation. 3. Al-kaadhib (the liar) This is a person who has a persistant habit of lying & deceiving. Imam Ali Alayhisalam Has said,that a liar is like a mirage.
