***Auditions Today*** #Day1 Make a Joyful Noise is a stage play about family and love during the holidays. After spending seventeen years of her life being a dutiful housewife and mother, Rain Jackson elopes to New York City in hopes of becoming a well-known author leaving behind her husband and daughter. Her daughter’s single wish is for her mother to return home for Christmas so that they can be a family again. The question is whether Rain will get what she is searching for or realize that God has already given her more than enough. CAST REQUIRES EIGHT CHARACTERS Rain James (Artsy) 37 year old woman who was a teenage mom turned housewife by the age of 18. One day and without warning to her family, she decides to follow her dream of being a nationally known author by moving to NYC. Donnie James (Working man) 37 year old man who works 12-hour shifts at a local car plant. He is practical and thinks that he is giving his family the American Dream until he comes home one day to find a Dear John letter. Mariyah James A 16 year old girl who loves to shower her family with her beautiful singing voice. Her mother calls her, a little song bird. When her mother leaves her family, she gets depressed and promises to never sing again. Jessie Brooks (Rough looking) 59 year old man who wants to reunite with his son so that he can start a relationship with his long-lost son and his family that he abandoned 19 years ago. Anethia Lock (Pretty Songstress) A 16 year old girl who is close friends with Mariyah and always trying to encourage her. Grandma Jana Funny and witty) She is Jessie James’ mother who never approved of Rain. She is funny and witty, but when it comes to her son’s happiness and her granddaughter’s Christmas wish she will stop at nothing to give them what they want. Neighbor (Minor Speaking Role) (talkative and likes to do hip-hop dances) Caucasian female who is new to the neighborhood. Auditions will be held at The Liberty Theatre and are open to ALL who are interested. Please call (334) 787-0733 with questions. Understudies may be needed as well. AUDITION DATES: September 9th and 10th from 6 PM – 7 PM. Please prepare a 1-2 minute monologue AND be prepared to read from the script. Rehearsal will begin September 23rd at 6 p.m. Production Dates: November 9th, November 16-17, 2013.
