Aug 23 Today I am grateful: o For getting through crazy city traffic and back onto the open road o For mountain ranges and desert plains o For modern roads that take me to amazing beauty o For a camp site at the base of a cliff where I could watch the sun set behind a steep wall of stone o For the howling of wind to fill a lonely evening with sounds other than me talking to myself o For late arrivals at the camp ground so that I was not the only person in that lonely valley Aug 24 Today I am grateful: o For highways and byways that make exploration possible o For the amazing experience of walking the trail at Fossil Falls o For the opportunity to visit Manzanar and to be reminded about how fragile our freedom really is and how we must always work to preserve and insure that we have freedom and that we strive to make this gift available to everyone everywhere. o For my desire to constantly strive to rid myself of prejudice and fear o For the opportunity to experience the feeling of wonder while driving on a lonely stretch of Hwy 6, connecting with the mountains and the wide open spaces of desert landscape and for a moment feeling how small one person is in the scale of all of creation.
