Aug. 6, 1945, the first atomic bomb — Little Boy — was dropped on Hiroshima. Three days later Fat Man was dropped on Nagasaki. Before that, though, it was a secretive, scientific exploit of historic proportions that led to the making of the atomic bomb under the code name the Manhattan Project. Many of the people who worked on that massive World War II project that shaped the future of history have since passed on. But one of those Manhattan Project workers is alive and kicking at a nursing home in Marion.
