Law-Davis, Jye Summers, L. Watson, R. Sutton, L. Anderson, K. Barry After the tough game that North had last week they were missing a few players in Jeremy, Justin and Andy Summers, Tristan McLean and the goal sneek Boyd Hoare, but welcomed back Lochley Watson which gave them a total of 17 players, while Currie were able to field 15 for this game and coming off the bye were looking in good shape, and it showed in the first quarter. Currie kicked 9 goals to one and North just could not stop their onslaught to goal. Things settled down a bit in the second as North started to look for their team mates more. Both back lines were kept pretty busy and at about the 15 minute mark of the second quarter North got their first goal through David Vellekoop. Jak Youd for Currie was quick to add another goal to his tally of 3 from the first quarter only to see Ben Spry get one for North, and then Jak slammed on another 3 in a row before Vellekoop got one to end the quarter to see Currie lead by 62 points at half time. The third quarter on the score board was a more even affair, with North kicking 3 goals to Curries 2 against the wind, but Currie were missing goals and racking up points. North had put Tim Shuuring into the forward line and it paid off with him kicking 2 for the quarter, while Jak got himself another 2 as well. Doug Cox was up to his running best for Currie, getting plenty of the ball and setting it up for their forwards. He looks to have sewn up the Golden Pen Award and is a favorite for the Keating Medal along with James Law-Davis for North who also had a ripper of a game. Lochley Watson had his best game so far in his short season while Jye Summers, Richard Sutton, Lance Anderson and Kyle Barry did a great job to keep Currie’s score to what it ended up. The last quarter saw Currie extend their lead and they ran out winners by 77 points. Jak kicked another goal to see him end up with a tally of 10 for the game. Dillon Beecroft, Allan Branigan and Robbie Lewis were real work horses for Currie in the back line while young Andy Castles and Patrick Johnson also played well. Next week see’s Currie and North meet again in the semi final and it should see Currie field a full side for the first time this season. North will get back their missing players from this game which will bolster their ranks and make it a closer game than what it was today.
