August 19th, 2014. YOU ARE THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD And Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Matthew 16:16 With this confession we drop our self as the source of our living. We drop our decision, our choice, our view, our way, and we take Christ as our all in all. Then the Lord has the rock upon which to build the church. When we are persons constituted with this revelation and confession in our daily living, we bring in the reality of this rock upon which the Lord will build His church-- the church that the gates of Hades will not prevail against (Matt. 16:18). The word prevail implies a struggle. Nevertheless, even with the struggle, the gates of Hades will not be strong enough to overpower the building of the church. Why? Because in your weakness and in your frailty you do not refer your self to yourself anymore! But with your mouth you declare, Jesus, You are the Christ! With your thoughts, with your feelings, with your reactions, with your considerations, you inwardly experience this One by saying, You are the Son of the living God! That is saying, Lord, You know how to live. I do not know how to live. I am just a branch in You as the Vine. Without You I can do nothing! That is the significance of saying, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God! And this kind of declaration coming from this kind of revelation is the rock upon which Christ builds His church in reality. To say You are the Christ, the Son of the living God is not a mere doctrinal confession. It is saying, You are the Christ loving and forgiving the saints. It is saying, You are the Christ that died to sin and the flesh. It is saying, You are the Christ where there is no condemnation. I am not a condemned person anymore because I am not qualified to take any condemnation! God did not leave me in myself. He put me in Christ Jesus! Now there is no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus! He is the Son of the living God, so He is my relationship with the Father! I am in His love. I am in His joy. I am not imitating His love. I am not imitating His joy. I have the actual joy of Jesus in me! It is revelation that causes me to make these declarations about Christ, and it is upon this rock that the Lord builds His church. And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God [Matthew 16:16]. THOU ART THE CHRIST. The confession is short, but it embraces all that is contained in our salvation; for the designation Christ, or Anointed, includes both an everlasting Kingdom and an everlasting Priesthood, to reconcile us to God, and, by expiating our sins through his sacrifice, to obtain for us a perfect righteousness, and, having received us under his protection, to uphold and supply and enrich us with every description of blessings. Mark says only, THOU ART THE CHRIST. Luke says, THOU ART THE CHRIST OF GOD. But the meaning is the same; for the Christs (ξριστοί) of God was the appellation anciently bestowed on KINGS, who had been anointed by the DIVINE COMMAND. And this phrase had been previously employed by Luke, (2:26,) when he said that Simeon had been informed by a revelation from heaven that he would not see death before he had seen the Lords Christ. For the redemption, which God manifested by the hand of his Son, was clearly divine; and therefore it was necessary that he who was to be the Redeemer should come from heaven, bearing the impress of the anointing of God. Matthew expresses it still more clearly, Thou art the Son of the living God; for, though Peter did not yet understand distinctly in what way Christ was the begotten of God, he was so fully persuaded of the dignity of Christ, that he believed him to come from God, not like other men, but by the inhabitation of the true and living Godhead in his flesh. When the attribute living is ascribed to God, it is for the purpose of distinguishing between Him and dead idols, who are nothing, (1 Corinthians 8:4.) August 19 MORNING AS HE WHICH HATH CALLED YOU IS HOLY, SO BE YE HOLY IN ALL MANNER OF CONVERSATION. Ye know how we exhorted... and charged every one of you,... that ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.-- Ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. Ye were sometimes darkness, but now [are ye] light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (for the fruit of the Spirit [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove [them].-- Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.-- Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 1 PET 1:15. 1 Thes 2:11, 12-- 1 Pe 2:9. Ep 5:8- 11.-- Phil 1:11. Mt 5:16-- 1 Co 10:31. August 19 EVENING ASK ME OF THINGS TO COME CONCERNING MY SONS, AND CONCERNING THE WORK OF MY HANDS COMMAND YE ME. A new heart... will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes.... Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet [for] this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do [it] for them. If two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
