I spoke with Honda Motorcycles of North America today because I - TopicsExpress

I spoke with Honda Motorcycles of North America today because I wanted to send them some oil burning pictures from my most recent trip to the Great Smokies. They told me they had NO email address and I would need to print out copies and mail them to headquarters. While on this multi-day, 1000 mile adventure I burned a bit more than 2 Quarts of oil in my 08 CBR1000rr. I managed to coat the swingarm, some of the wheel, and I am sure even the tire had oil on it. I have had this bike since it was new and have always been a Honda guy, we always rode Red. It is a fantastic bike and few bikes in my opinion compare to how it rides. I had called Honda several years ago and told them about this issue and they first told me it was normal. The next time I called Honda they told me to take it to a shop and if Honda decided it was not a problem, then I would have to cover all the costs. I wasnt playing that game. This is a well known problem considering the amount of information you can find on the internet. The last time I called in the guy asked if the bike had been wrecked(which it had at that point) and he blamed the oil burning on the wreck. That bike burned oil since it was new and was not wrecked until it had 11k on the clock. It now has about 27k(SpeedoHealer Corrected) on the odometer for reference, so I have enjoyed several more years and many happy miles since that last phone call. I then immediately cancelled my extended warranty on that last phone call because I figured it was useless as the rest of the bike is Honda Quality. I also currently race an 07 CBR600rr and it has had several adventures and does not burn a drop of oil so this representative was just making excuses. I am writing this post in hopes that the right person from Honda Motorcycles & ATVs - US will get these pictures in digital form and be able to see what I have experienced and send them around. I love my 08 Honda CBR1000rr and I will never get rid of this bike. One day it will get performance engine build to fix the few engine flaws, but until then two stroke CBR1000rrs for life.
