Hebrews 3:13 (MSG) When we tell our boss we are going to get that proposal done by the end of the week, we do it. When we tell a client or project counterpart that we’ll write that report, we deliver it. When we promise our kids we’ll throw them a birthday party, we keep our word. However, when we tell ourselves and no one else that we’ll ask for that raise, or quit our “just okay” job in order to pursue our dream job, we are less likely to do it. It’s easy to sweep our ideas under the carpet when nobody knows about it but us. When a person is accountable to someone else for doing what they said they would do, they get things done and they make the changes they’ve been toying with for years. As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17(NIV) Accountability does not mean confronting one another but rather it’s a process through which we challenge each other in different areas of life which include our spiritual growth. To clearly see the purpose of life and the meaning of GOD’s calling for our lives, we need people in our lives - individuals who will encourage our strengths and also reveal our blind-spots; approachable guides and caring souls who can help us negotiate our way through life. Being accountable helps us to see the condition of our spiritual man and also helps us to understand whether our desires comply with GODs plan for us. Through the shared wisdom of our pastors, mentors and other believers, we grow roots downward and bear fruits upward, making us stronger, more effective and more successful in our walk with GOD. Find someone who can help you grow and someone whom you can help grow!
