Aussie Beach TV shared this post about Mike Holt who started Restore Australia who is trying to give the power back to the people this federal election: 7 June 2013 Mike Holt, a Sunshine Coast resident and Vietnam veteran has announced he is standing as a One Nation candidate in the seat of Fairfax. Mike served in north eastern Thailand in 1967 with the RAAF. After he returned home he went into business and eventually traveled overseas where he decided to live in Thailand. After selling his business, he returned home in 2009 with his family and settled in Buderim intending to retire. He cites the current political system as his reason for getting involved with politics. “I lived through five coups in Thailand. When I returned home I thought I was coming home to a civilized political system. But what happened soon after I returned? Julia Gillard pulled off a coup! I couldn’t believe it!” he said. “Since then, I have witnessed our governance go from bad to worse. That is what decided me to do something to try and change the way our nation is run.” Holt met Lieutenant Colonel Charles Mollison (Retd), the author of “A Draft Constitution for the Sovereign Nation of Australia” and immediately realised that he could help restore Australia to political sanity using the proposals in the draft. He set up the RestoreAustralia website and started to reach out to people around Australia to inspire Aussies to get involved in changing the political system. “The response has been overwhelming”, he said. “People from all around the nation have become involved with RestoreAustralia.” Many supporters have contributed to Holt’s campaign fund. They want to see him get into Parliament where he has promised his first act will be to submit a Bill for a referendum to amend Section 128 of the Constitution to put power back into the hands of the people. “I want to give the People the power to initiate referendums”, he says “so that armed with this power the people will be able to work together to write a whole new Constitution for Australia and so restore our democracy. “The 1901 Constitution was designed to unite 6 British colonies into one British colony.” He says. “Since then there have been only eight minor amendments. Our Constitution was never designed as a Constitution for the independent sovereign nation Australia has become. The politicians have dropped the ball and it is time the People took responsibility for the future of our nation.” Mr Holt says his simple agenda to put the power into the hands of the people offers hope for change to the system, something other candidates are not offering.
