Austin has the highest proportion of unemployed PhD graduates in the country. Reminds me of something Rush Limbaugh said about Socialists. He contended that socialists want to dictate society and redistribute wealth because they find it offensive that they are poor and the industrious yet less intelligent are successful. In order to add substance to this concept, allow me to put forward three other thoughts. One, Murray N. Rothbard in Anatomy of the State expressed personal vexation at the propensity of intellectuals who become socialists and supporters of State fore. Two, Bastiat elaborates on the mindset of intellectual socialists who view all of the world as being divided into two groups, the inert mass public, and the gifted, superior social engineers (The Law, pg 24-25). Third, I wish to refer to the picture attached to this post. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were not the smartest, in terms of pure engineering and computer construction, yet they were instrumental in creating the information age and its resulting industries. Being smart is not all its cracked up to be.
