Averted what could have had a very serious outcome tonight. I had put vegetables in hot oil to sauté and they had too much frost on them. The oil started splattering everywhere. So I put the lid on the pan. When I raised it a few minutes later, the oil had caught fire and flames were shooting as high as the above range microwave. Turned the gas off immediately and thankfully had the presence of mind to put the lid back on the pan to shut off the oxygen source. I know way to many people that have lost everything they had in a house fire so those thoughts were running through my head as well as remembering the tragic house fire that just happened a couple if days ago. Moral of story- Rachel does NOT belong in the kitchen and should be permanently banned from said area if house!!!!!
