Awesome Track Workout Runners. We call it Finish Line Training: Finishing Happy is most important. In my experience, runners are often capable of far more than they believe. They let their friends, watches, and insecurities block their true ability. Marathoners: As your coach: If youre NOT injured AND doing ALL your training runs, youre average marathon pace should be around 90 to 100 seconds per mile slower than what you did tonight. Thats my experience with runners. IF they are doing their mileage, eating right etc…. if you ran 80 second quarters = 3:10 marathon if you ran 1:45 quarters = 3:50 marathon If you ran a 2 min quarter = 4:09 marathon. if you ran a 2:30 quarter = 5:01 marathon Sound unrealistic??? You MUST be doing ALL your mileage and you MUST have your race week nutrition on target (I prefer eating lots of low fat carbs). There are other factors....MENTAL toughness is a big one, but this is all my experience.....but FIRST YOU MUST BELIEVE. Its in your heart and head, as well as your legs. Thats why we love the MARATHON. Thanks Nate Billings for all the great advice
