Awesome acts of human kindness happen all the time. Two Shabbats ago, my beloved Maia and I were one day into our Scotland honeymoon. When on the road, we deliberate on a creative way to celebrate Shabbat in a way which works for us. This particular one we joined a free Ghost Tour of underground chambers beneath the city of Edinburgh. While on the journey towards the entrance, we traversed a sidewalk single-file. Our guide (Sean?) walked up the line and said Hey ... youre about to see a guy on the sidewalk. Dont make believe you dont see him.. hes a real person -- you DO see him... if you like what youre experiencing with this tour, why dont you give some change to the guy? I asked him about it later after the tour was over -- if the sidewalk guy was a plant to raise money for the tour... his reply? I dont usually do that, but a few times a year I get moved to do so. Everyone deserves the respect of acknowledgement, and I thought it was a good thing to do. So there was our opportunity to give Tzedaka! :-) AND... what a lovely gift WE were given that Shabbat evening... I thought Id share with my TBZ family...
