Ayahuasca... Its kind of hard to call it communicating in the I and you sense. Because the already intoxicated mechanisms that produce an experience of cognitive/emotional/somatic self get caught up in the light and come to be regarded, accosted, bombarded, and even inhabited by the things that live there. Its not exactly what Id call telepathy either; its something more akin to sending a text message, praying and catching a stomach virus. There is something viral about the process. They communicate with me the way a virus (essentially an errant piece of disembodied genetic information) communicates with a host cell whose nucleus it has penetrated. They insinuate themselves into every psychological and physiological process. If it serves them they will repair things they find that are broken or disordered in the host being. Theres something down right technological, futuristic even about the interface, like getting your tonsils removed in a 29th century holographic operating room that has manifested in the comfort and privacy of your own home... but you dont get ice cream afterwards. If this state somehow occurred spontaneously or organically in an individual with no intention or context for spirit work their account might read like a classic alien abduction narrative. It seems that they have also had to alter and enhance human consciousness to make the connection across the rift between the seen and unseen worlds possible. Millennia ago a group of bipedal life forms stumbled dazed across the African savanna and into the range of their vision after chewing poisonous mushrooms--laughing, and fighting and crying with one another, making wordless mouth sounds as they made their way north in a foraging season of all gather no hunt. Although the human brain was even then the most complex, information dense object within a radius of tens of millions of light years, primate brains had been forged by blood-and-guts evolution to evade large predators and track game, certainly not tailored for the work of transdimsiomal detante, so some some minor changes had to be made. Like the glut of consumer products that came into the market indirectly from the US space program: GPS, Squeeze Cheeze, and cable TV, TANG etc. we got some pretty good swag from a more sophisticated forays into space exploration. Like the myth of Prometheus, the spirits gave us words to say. They gave us food to eat. They gave us shelter. They made peace with the fire, and the water and then the sharpened stone. They gave us numbers to count the multitude of other gifts they gave us, drawing our brains ever closer to the level of complexity needed to achieve interface.
