Ayahuasca and Acute Sensitivity: Before drinking Ayahuasca its - TopicsExpress

Ayahuasca and Acute Sensitivity: Before drinking Ayahuasca its important to note that one of its most fundamental gifts is its ability to clear away the blockages that prevent us from stepping into broader states of awareness in our daily lives. In simple terms it clears away the heaviness, toxicity, trauma and pain and opens us to increased sensitivity in forms such as empathy and increased multidimensional awareness. One of the most common challenges that Ive observed is when people who are already struggling to cope with the level of sensitivity they already have decided to engage with a substance that has a strong potential for opening them even further. Weve all heard that Ayahuasca is not for everyone, and its these acute sensitives who are often in mind when people say this, along with other categories such as those who arent yet ready to face themselves and do their inner work, and those who wish to use it as an escape. Drinking Ayahuasca, for a person who experiences non-ordinary states without the need for medicine can indeed be a recipe for deep challenges that, without support, can see people end up in the psych ward. However, in my opinion Ayahuasca can in fact be used as a tool for learning better skills in handling having to deal with levels of awareness in daily life that most other people only experience in medicine space. Joseph Campbells the schizophrenic drowns in the same waters that the mystic swims in with delight is a good guidestone here. While im not accusing anyone of being schizophrenic, I am suggesting that people who regularly find themselves in those waters but havent yet learned to swim with delight might be wise to consider carefully before drinking a potion that is going to drop them in the deep ocean. If someone is struggling to keep their head above water in their everyday life is then taken out to where they cant even see the shore, it may not be the best move. So, is Ayahuasca ever useful for people experiencing an overwhelming level of sensitivity in their every day life? I believe it can be, for some, if approached carefully. Some of the biggest keys are the need for extra care and engagement on the part of the facilitator or curandero both during peak experience and integration; extra care from the subject in choosing and working with an appropriate intention; and perhaps most importantly the need for extra integration time in a safe container away from any influence which may be agitating. The most common way this seems to play out is with the acutely sensitive person not realising that they may need extra support and consultation with the person holding the ceremony, or even more important: that they may need to find someone who is actually experienced in helping people learn how to cope with their existing sensitivity using Ayahuasca. Without this they then work with an intention that has nothing to do with learning how to cope with the already overwhelming level of sensitivity in their normal life. Then after being cracked open even wider, allow very little integration time before attempting to go back to participating in their ordinary world. Its these people are at high risk of becoming the the seldom spoken about fallout from the current surge of Aya Awakenings occurring all over the world.
