BABY [2015]: Yes, #Baby is Bollywoods answer to #Argo. Director Neeraj Pandey proves that he is here to make a mark, and how! This film is an example of how to make a gripping suspense action thriller, without bothering to include any formula element that Bollywood studios push in to placate the family/ formula audience. Its relentless, violent, and never lets you get up from your seat. Rather than going for pop-corn during the interval, you remain glued to your seat and wait eagerly for it to get started. At any point of turn, you expect a typical Bollywood element - an item song, a long & unnecessary romantic track, a villain doing stupid acts, out-of-place comedy, a damsel-in-distress, and so on. Instead, it gives you nothing of that sort - but tightens its hold on your breath and never lets it go till the very end. Its not unnecessarily complex either - a linear story depicted in a break-neck speed with every frame moving the story forward. It keeps you hanging on tenterhooks, not telling you what will happen next - the best part being that at one point of time, it also makes you believe that the hero may actually not survive the last act - and makes you start praying for the final outcome in his favor. When did you see a Hindi film last that had this kind of an effect on you??? Dont miss it!!! The acting from all thespians is competent but this film through and through is a statement of intent & capability from Director & Writer Neeraj Pandey, Cinematographer Sudeep Chatterjee and Editor Shree Narayan Singh, and must also be commended for all areas like Light, Sound, Stunts, and Production. Producer Shital Bhatia bets on the Director and his team, and makes this an all-around winner.
