** BALLINASLOE FAIR GALWAY 2014 ** While there are many genuine breeders and enthusiasts who attend Ballinasloe, there is a large element in attendance whose treatment and neglect of horses, ponies, donkeys & dogs is evident and a clear breach of The Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013. Young trotters used non-stop for racing on hard surfaces, many of which are visibly thin and scarred from constant whipping. All covered in sweat from head to toe. And not a bucket of water or a bale of Hay in sight!!. Foals been ridden by older teenagers!! These babies are too young to be seperated from their mothers, not to mention the damage inflicted on their developing backs. Also there was an alarming number of dogs, pedigree and otherwise, offered for sale from cardboard boxes, crates and the backs of vans, many of them too young and all completely terrified and shivering from the cold. There is no justification for this!! Legislation is there to protect the animals. Why is it not being enforced?? Thank you to littlehill Animal Rescue & Sanctuary for allowing us to use some of their pictures for our post. Others pictures from The Daily Mail News.
