BAM RT NATIONAL LIVESTOCK JUDGING Today is the day a very early morning ....dressed to impress with our blazers , hot pink shirts khaki pants Girls bangle necklaces boys black and pink ties 615 breakfast some nervous some confident some talkative 7 am a bus load of contestants rode in silence to the site of the event....as a teacher it is hard to believe that this many teenagers can stay so quiet for so long They marched into the coliseum and were separated into their groups and ushered to the contest floor to judge 10 sets of 15 minute classes 2 heifer classes a feedlot class 3 hog classes 2 sheep classes 1 bull class and a Boer doe class in alternating rotations Escort to the busses with a box lunch and a silent trip to the Hilton to give 6 sets of reasons Up and down the steps they went to justify their placings and prepare for the next set....a grueling day...mind boggling. ..stressful But they all survived....when asked how they felt...one remarked. Mentally dismantled A critique of the classes and all in all we did pretty well Ryan McGrath and Trevor Rosso came off the floor with 475 out of 500 Michael Austin 460 Bailey Noel 455 Abby Marion 437 Probably not good enough to place in top 15 in nation as a team but hoping for some top 15 s in individual We celebrated getting thru it all and were ready for a good meal prior to returning to Denver Fine dining it was...and we entered with our suited attire and were glad there was no waiting as we ordered and were seated next to a homeless man at the Chick-fil-A....We quickly ate and scurried back to the van as a round up dance was scheduled for the night time festivities Of course the same chaos erupted with the normal pushing shoving yelling and smart Alec comments that we were fast becoming accustomed to...followed by someone of course. ...passing gas...Hmmmmm This time though they were singing either to themselves or in chorus with the radio. ..not gonna say they sang well but....they did sing loud ...at least for a while...then it got very quiet As the 3 Amigos in the back had fallen asleep Ahhhhh the silence...until the snoring began....boys will be boys When we reached the motel one woke up and couldnt resist screaming at the top of his lungs to alarm the other 2 to a terrifying wakening....of course more yelling and threats of what they will be doing to each other in the near future... They hurried to their rooms to change and rush to a roomful of contestants from all over the nation Tomorrow we will find out the results and I promise to post if we win anything Thanks to all for your kind words thoughts and prayers We are so appreciative
