BANCO SANTANDER BLOCKED THE ACCOUNT OF THE PRESIDENT OF AN NGO BECAUSE SHE IS A NIGERIAN??? According to the story in EL Pais the bank manager admits it because she is from a sensitive country Talk about tarring AFRICAN migrants with the same brush Follow this link elmundo.es/andalucia/2014/01/07/52cbce54ca4741762b8b456c.html for the full story in Spanish. These are some of the many impediments that continue to stifle the growth of the migrant (especially the African) community in Spain. We fully acknowledge that there are bigger factors like language barrier, the tendency to stick to our own community because it is easier, the reluctance to educate ourselves because of the need to make ends meet, unemployment because of the Economic crisis itself etc. etc. All these factors contribute to many of us leaving Spain in our droves therefore the community is at a perpetual decline. But to face these kinds of unreasonable and blatant degrading obstacles is just a step too far. It is about time we stand up and speak up against it, share your stories to openly to highlight the problems we face here, educate ourselves so we can face these problems head on, make an effort to at least learn the language not only to speak up for ourselves but to aid our integration into the community. Without it, we may as well surrender ourselves openly to be discriminated upon not just by the banks but everywhere we go. Have you encountered such difficulties anywhere in Spain? Share your stories here with us, we will look into it…
