#BARINGOPEACEMEETING: LEADERS RESOLUTIONS Preamble: We leaders of Baringo County today on the 21st June, 2014, during this consultative meeting on security meeting held in Kibellion Hotel in Emining; 1. Take note of the persistent insecurity arising from cattle rustling which which has led to loss of lives, destruction of property, displacement of persons, disruption of education and negative image of the county undermining development. 2. This state of affairs is no longer tolerable and the national and county leadership from all sub counties today resolve as follows: 3. that the entire leadership led by the Governor, Senator, the Members of Parliament, MCAs, the clergy and professionals with immediate effect visit the affected areas to appeal for calm, peaceful coexistence and communities to stop any further hostilities. 4. That the county government to set up a taskforce to identify the causes of the conflicts and identify the solutions both short term and long term and make recommendations thereof and submit a report within one month. 5. That the leadership engage the national government to immediately recruit and deploy more National Police Reserves in the following areas; Tiaty, Baringo North and Baringo South. 6. That the County Government appeals to the National Government to deploy more security personnel, communication equipment, vehicles and other logistical support. 7. That the national government urgently takes steps to compensate and resettle IDPs and victims of cattle rustling to restore normalcy 8. That both national and County Governments set aside funds to build boarding schools, water points and security roads. 9. That the national government to conduct forceful disarmament in the county and the neighbouring counties. 10. That the affected communities in the county respect the traditional community boundaries as we await for the formation of the national boundaries commission. 11. That the national government provides a special fund to set up boarding schools in the affected areas to enforce compulsory education. 12. That the commission on revenue allocation with immediate effect considers Baringo County in the equalization fund to address the marginalization problems in the county.
