#BBOG Taraba Attorney-General To Suntai: You Must Face Medical Panel The commissioner for justice and attorney-general appointed by the acting governor of the state, Barr. Musa Tende, has said that Governor Danbaba Suntai must appear before the medical panel set up by the Taraba State House of Assembly last week, if truly he is fit to resume duty. Barr Tende made this assertion following Governor Suntai’s refusal to appear before the five-man medical panel set up by the speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, to determine his health status. Reacting to rumours that Suntai would not appear before the panel on the ground that the case was in court, the commissioner insisted that the governor was under oath to appear before the panel to ascertain his fitness or otherwise. The commissioner who spoke to LEADERSHIP over the phone noted that there was nothing wrong with the governor appearing before the panel as, according to him, the laws permits him to do it. He wondered what would amount to contempt of court in evoking Section 189 (1) (b) and Section (189) (4), adding that merely saying the governor cannot appear before the panel means he has something that was distrubing him and not because of legal implications. LEADERSHIP learnt that Suntai was not prepared to appear before the medical panel. Danbaba, who spoke through G.T. Kataps. said the medical panel was part of the reliefs the governor sought in the suit he instituted against the Assembly when he wrote and requested to resume office when he returned. In his refusal, Suntai hinted that since the case was in court, it would not be wise for him to appear before any medical team until the case was dispensed with. #LSET
