BDCA minutes: BDCA Meeting, Tuesday, March 4, 2014 Our monthly meeting was held at the Rec. Hall. The meeting was called to order by President Joe Reid at 7:00 pm. Board Members in attendance: President Joe Reid, Vice-President Susie Maples, Treasurer Mike Longi, Secretary Al Ing, Mary Ellen Klein, Laurie Lee, Will LePage, Nina Mata and Megan Tanner. Other members: Trent and Sheila Billingsley, Audrey Dotson, Anne King and Glenn Shaw. The minutes from our February, 2014 meeting was accepted with a motion from Megan Tanner, a second from Mary Ellen Klein with a unanimous vote of acceptance. According to our treasurer, Mike Longi, financially were strong. Our bank balance is $42,618. This total includes our general fund and our pool fund. Our most recent event, 80 Bites Around the World, did us well. Our net revenue for the affair was $2,665. The food was wonderful. The wines were magnificent and it seemed to be a very enjoyable evening. To all that came and enjoyed, the BDCA thanks you. To all that helped create, cook, serve, clean-up, etc., you deserve a round of applause. Great job everyone. Trent and Sheila Billingsley have done some excellent work on resolving our Health Dept. issues. Sheila has been working with the attorney for the health dept. The attorney told Sheila what documentation would be necessary to satisfy our status with them as a private organization. If our By-Laws were to show some text with a line stating we will operate with a Federal designation of a 501C7, then that would be acceptable to the health dept. The only copies of our by-laws weve been able to locate are ones that have been copied multiple times. The text is crooked, etc. They are copies of our last revision, which was done in 1994. Sheila has had our by-laws retyped nice and neat. She added a sentence stating we will operate with a Federal designation of a 501C7. The statement is under Article I, Purpose. Certain rules and protocol are in place in order for us to change our by-laws. To do so requires a vote of the general membership in attendance at a special meeting or at a regular meeting. The Board has decided to do this at our next meeting on Tuesday, April 1. More information will be forthcoming in the upcoming week. If youre on the E-Mail list you, you will be notified via E-Mail about this. Joe Reid and Brian Kelly are working together on the hood and vent for our stoves in the kitchen of the Rec. Hall. Hopefully they will have some results soon. Preparations and planning for Spring Clean-Up are on schedule. We will be having Boys Scouts and their parents helping us throughout the park In honor of Nevadas 150 years of statehood, the Spanish Trail Society is replacing two Spanish Trail markers. Glenn Shaw announced that at 9:00 am on March 29 at the top of Cerrito St. there will be a ceremony. Boy Scouts will be assisting in the installation. Cowboy Trail Rides is providing some mules to transport the markers to their destinations out on the trail. The BDCA will be donating some tables and paper goods for the event, Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Rec. Hall.
