BE SKILLFUL IN YOUR FIELD : EVEN AS A PASTOR One of the things - TopicsExpress

BE SKILLFUL IN YOUR FIELD : EVEN AS A PASTOR One of the things my father Reverend Chris Oyakhilome phD has taught me is the value of skill and excellence in ministry. In every field there are those who are ordinary and average performers and those who are skillful. There are ordinary footballers and skillful ones, there are ordinary musicians and skillful ones, there are average lawyers and skillful ones...,.... well I say to fellow christians, ....THERE ARE SKILLFUL PASTORS, USHERS, WORSHIP LEADERS, MUSICIANS etc and ordinary ones. Refuse to be the average one. Paul distinguishes himself among other men of God by saying I AM AN EXPERT BUILDER 1 Corinthians 3. The challenge I have for my fellow Pastors and for all is this; the less skillful you are at what you do including pastoral ministry, the more tedious effort you will need to achieve little. Prayer, fasting etc are indispensable but not enough for success in ministry and life. Invest in knowledge and skill. The bible says something deep in Eclessiastes 10:10 If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success. NIV Another translation says: Remember: The duller the ax the harder the work; Use your head: The more brains, the less muscle. Message Translation The scriptures above say it all. Invest in skill. Challenge your brains to function more in ministry and every other field. Training our members at various levels is one of the things I enjoy the most. My name is Michael Mark - a bond servant of Christ. A bona fide son of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome phD. I AM WHAT I AM BY THE GRACE OF GOD.
